On the Road, Off the Grid

My home internet shut off today.  I have also made the discovery that I am completely inept at writing anything longer than a sentence or two via my telephone…I just don’t have those mighty thumbs.  This means that this will be my last blog entry until I arrive in Louisiana next week and get Molly (my computer) set up in our temporary digs.  Never fear, however.  While we’re On the Road, I will be going about things the old-school way, in a spiral, with a pen.  When I get caught up with myself, I’ll backtrack and update.

In the meantime, it is my very last day of work here.  11 years and 4 months, holy cow.  It’s surreal, business as usual for some things, and after walking in and out of this front door for so long, the familiarity of everything is starting to look unreal.  There will undoubtedly be some sort of farewell Event this afternoon.  Keeping it all together pretty well so far, though!  And it’s been fun.  When I got to work, one of my work buddies, B, came up and taped this to my office door:

There is a little note written on both sides.  I told her I would take it home, pack it, and add it to our future Mardi Gras Decor pile.

So yeah.  Officially “unemployed” at 5:00.  Friend time tomorrow.  Truck-loading Sunday.  Apartment cleaning Monday.  On the Road, Tuesday.  Off the Grid until late next week.

I will be updating all along the way, via Facebook and a couple of texts.  My thumbs can handle that.

Until then, blogworld.  See y’all on da other side.

Featured Image: A piece of my own doing, it was a wide-open digital art assignment from back in my Art School days.  The subject matter was limited only in that we had to do something representative of our favorite author or piece of literature.  It was fitting today.
