This just in! Fowl Squirrel Strikes Again! Except this morning, instead of being a majestic bird, he was a monkey instead. No joke – the little guy was swinging in the tree branches. I had my own miniature, one-squirrel, circus this morning.
Oddly enough, after my avian disappointment yesterday morning, I actually did see a hawk-like raptor of some sort from my balcony last night, in a different tree, a block up from the squirrel tree. It was far enough away to be unidentifiable, but it was BIG enough to be someone of interest, since it seemed sizable even from as far away as I was. I think I laughed out loud. So there ya go, ask and ye shall receive.
It’s still cold this morning, although not as bad as it’s been this week. Everything is slow to melt, though, so some chill remains. The squirrels may not have wings in these parts, but some of the vehicles did, a few days ago.
Meanwhile, I received my first job-hunt “rejection letter” this morning, from one of the places at which I would have merrily worked. It was an admin spot at a place that provides musical opportunities for young folk. How amazing would that have been? Alas, my inbox this morning held a message from them, to notify me that the position had been filled, but that they wished me luck finding the success that I deserve. It was actually a very nice and caring turn-down, so I shan’t be woebegone over it. Actually, I’m always grateful when places actually communicate, one way or the other, regardless of which way that wind has blown. It’s always just Nice to Know. So, onward I go.
Time to get some work done. Minutes to type, fliers to send to print, an educational book I wrote in need of update and a new layout, video production companies to review prior to getting estimates, website stuff to crunch. You know, the usual.
I leave y’all with a couple more snow shots from earlier this week. Until then, stay warm, and think snow-melty thoughts.
